Moms of Furries

mofurries.com

Carrie and Joelle (“The Moms of Furries”) started hosting their “Young Furry Chill Spaces” at US cons in 2018 after their teens asked to go to a furry convention and they decided to go with them.

Being impressed with what they saw, they decided they wanted to support other parents and young furries in the fandom, first creating a YouTube channel and getting active on social media, ultimately leading to frequent participation as invited guests at some of the biggest furry cons.

Addy de Jongh

Note: Addy de Jongh will unfortunately not be able to attend: He’s visiting the otters in Norway. He’ll give his talk remotely, and his colleague Hans Blom will attend in his place.

Addy de Jongh founded Stichting Otterstation Nederland in 1985, successfully reintroducing the otter to the Netherlands after it had become locally extinct.

He became fascinated with otters during his biology studies at the University of Groningen. In addition to leading SON, he’s the national representative of the International Union for Conservation of Nature‘s Otter Specialist Group; supervises BSc, MSc and PhD students at home and abroad; and gives lectures and presentations on the otter around the world. For this work, he was knighted in 2010.
